Key activities implemented were:
Due to good performance of the project, in 2024, the donor (after independent project performance assessment) decided to approve phase 2 which is running from 2025 to 2027.
The Alochi Ku Somu II is still being implemented by a consotia of three Local NGOS (Life Concern, CEFORD and Nebbi District NGO Forum).
LICO offer the courses under a six months period and the trainees are examined by UVTEB and have the freedom to upgrade thereafter.
Since Co: operaid support, the skills training Centre has passed out 160 trainees and will be passing out another 80 at the end of September 2026.
Right now, LICO is on expansion drive of the Centre to train as many as possible youth in hands-on skills which can make them job creaters other than job seekers.
The board of directors and LICO management team is appealing to who ever is able to support the Centre in the following areas:-
- Offer to sponsor some one or more of the needy youth.
- Offer material support for infrastrural development or expansion of capacity to host more trainees.
- Donate funds or equipment to support the Centre.
- Sponsor advertising the Centre on any Local national or international Social Media.
We appreciate Co: operate support in funding LICO Skills Development Centre, our partners; CEFORD, Nebbi District NGO Forum, Uganda government, Zombo district local government, Alur kingdom (His Highness King Olarker Philip Raouni III and Prime Minister Prince Opar Angala Lawrence), Ndrukpa and all other cultural and religious institutions.
We call upon all other institutions, individuals, private sector and members of Parliament of Uganda to follow suit and extend what ever support you van.
