Our story

Who We Are

Life Concern (LICO) was founded as a Community Based Organization (CBO) in 1998. In 2003, it was registered as an indigenous Non-Governmental Organisation with National NGO Bureau in Uganda under the NGO Act Cap.109, Regulations, 2017; permit number INDP41533469NB.

  • LICO has 5 year running permit effective (September 4th 2025).

Under the permit, LICO is mandated to carry out activities in the fields of; Promoting human rights and Gender, Access to Justice, Education of the Vulnerable, Capacity building, Gender Equality, Cultural heritage, Participation in Governance processes and Sustainable use of Natural Resources across Uganda.

The organization’s supreme organ is the General Assembly comprising of all its promoters. The Assembly is supported by a Board of Directors which is responsible for providing oversight role to the secretariat, branding and corporate relations.
