Kubi Community Begins Planting 3,000 Trees

The Life Concern team yesterday joined the Kubi community in Erussi Sub-county, Nebbi District, to kick-start the planting of 3,000 tree seedlings as part of the organisation’s Climate Justice Programme.

The initiative will see the community plant 2,000 mahogany and 1,000 shea nut seedlings, contributing to efforts to restore the environment, strengthen climate resilience and promote sustainable livelihoods within the community.

Life Concern has partnered with the Kubi community to implement the tree-planting initiative, recognising the important role that local communities play in protecting natural resources and responding to the growing impacts of climate change.

Beyond environmental restoration, the planting of shea nut trees has the potential to provide long-term economic benefits to households, while mahogany trees can contribute to restoring tree cover and improving the local ecosystem.

The initiative demonstrates how community participation and climate action can work together to create lasting environmental and livelihood benefits for present and future generations.

As the seedlings take root, Life Concern and the Kubi community hope to see the initiative grow into a long-term commitment to environmental conservation, climate resilience and sustainable community development.
