The overall goal of the programme was to strengthen the peace building mechanisms through active community participation for sustainable peace and development in West Nile.

There were 3 projects implemented which included:

1) Peace building in secondary schools- activities implemented were:

  • Trained students and school administrators on alternative to violence project (AVP),
  • Run peace clubs in selected schools of West Nile districts.
  • Organized students’ annual peace camps.
  • Organized music dance and drama festivals.
  • Organized and conducted public speaking/policy debates among others.

2.Collaborative Wild Life and Forest Resource Management- activities included;

  • Trained and sensitized communities surrounding Murchison Falls National Park and Lendu Forest Plantation on importance of wild life and Forests.
  • Trained selected community members on mediation and dialogue skills.
  • Conducted stakeholders’ planning and implementation meetings.
  • Formed community messenger for peace as link between the community and authorities managing the resources.

3. Non Violent and peaceful local and national elections- activities included:

  • Conducting of Inter-party dialogue meetings.
  • Conducting training of party leaders on non-violent communication skills and diversity.
